Steps:
Step 1 - Activate Apple Pay in the Swiipe Portal
- Login to your Swiipe account: https://portal.swiipe.com/login
- At the top right corner select the e-commerce account (e.g. SwiipeApS) for which you wish to activate Apple Pay:
- Go to "Plugin" page.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, and expand "Other services" by clicking on it.

Find “Apple Pay” and click “Activate”.:

Select the webshop and click “Continue”.
- Ensure you are familiar with Swiipe terms and conditions for activating Apple Pay and click “Continue”.

Here you can choose how to activate Apple Pay. If you don't have Apple Pay yet, we recommend enabling via Swiipe, as it is easy and quick. However, if you already have Apple Pay setup, and just want to connect it to Swiipe, select "Via your own Apple Pay setup".
Note that if you don’t have Swiipe Card Payments activated yet, you might be asked to do it first, before you can activate Apple Pay.
Step 2 - Provide Apple Merchant ID
Format: merchant.extension.domain.subdomain
You can find your Merchant ID in your Apple Pay Developer Account:
- Log in to your Apple pay Developer account: https://developer.apple.com/account/
- Go to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles”.
- Go to “Identifiers” in the menu on the left.
- In the top right corner menu select “Merchant IDs”.
- From the list of Identifiers, select the webshop you want to activate Apple Pay on.
- Under “Edit or Configure Merchant ID”, copy the Identifier value.
- Paste it to the Swiipe onboarding page under “Apple merchant ID”.
If you don’t have Merchant ID in your Apple Pay Developer account yet, you can create a new one:
- Log in to your Apple pay Developer account.
- Go to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles”.
- Go to “Identifiers” in the menu on the left.

In the top right corner menu select “Merchant IDs”:
- Click “+” button to create a new Merchant ID.
- Under “Register a new identifier” select “Merchant IDs”:
- Type in the description of your merchant and click “Continue”.
- Once you have created the Merchant ID at Apple, copy its Identifier value.
- Paste it to the Swiipe onboarding page (in the Swiipe Portal) under “Apple merchant ID”.
Step 3 - Connect Apple Pay to Swiipe
Using “Payment Processing” and “Merchant Identity” certificates from previous payment provider
If you have previously used Apple Pay with another payment provider and would like to reuse your onboarding details:
- In Apple Pay onboarding page in Swiipe Portal, select “Yes” in the checkbox.
- Upload your Apple Pay “Payment Processing Certificate Key” and “Merchant Identity Certificate Key” from your previous payment provider.
If you have access to your previous payment provider account, you might be able to find your information under your Apple Pay configuration in that account. If you can, download the Apple Pay “Payment Processing Certificate Key” and “Merchant Identity Certificate Key”.
Alternatively, get in touch with your previous payment provider, and ask them to send you your Apple Pay “Payment Processing Certificate Key” and Merchant Identity Certificate Key”.
Once you have these files, upload it to the Swiipe onboarding form. - Upload the Merchant Identity Certificate from Apple.
- Sign into your Apple Pay Developer account:https://developer.apple.com/account/
- Go to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles” and select a Merchant Identity Certificate you previously created at Apple Pay using the file from Swiipe.
- Download this signed Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate by clicking “Download”.
- Now upload it to the Apple Pay onboarding form at Swiipe.
- Accept Swiipe terms for Apple Pay and click “Activate”.
Using “Payment Processing” and “Merchant Identity” certificates for the first time
- Create Apple Pay “Payment Processing Certificate” at Apple.
- Create Apple Pay “Merchant Identity Certificate” at Apple.
- Upload Apple Pay “Merchant Identity Certificate” at Swiipe.
Step 4 - Create Apple Pay Processing Certificate at Apple Pay
- From the Apple Pay onboarding form at Swiipe, download the Payment Processing Certificate Signing Request (under no.1 in the form).
- Open a new tab and sign into your Apple Pay Developer account: https://developer.apple.com/account/
- Go to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles”.
- Click “Create a certificate”.
- Under Services, select “Apple Pay Payment Processing Certificate”.
- On the same page, scroll to the top and click “Continue”.
- Select your Merchant ID and click “Continue”.
- Select an answer that best represents the markets you are selling to and click “Continue”.
- Now, Upload the Payment Processing Certificate Signing Request (csr file) you downloaded in the Swiipe portal from step 1. and click “Continue”.
- Apple Pay Payment Processing Certificate has been created.
Step 5 - Get a signed Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate
- From the Apple Pay onboarding form at Swiipe, download the Merchant Identity CertificateSigning Request (no.2 in the Swiipe onboarding form).
- Sign into your Apple Pay Developer account: https://developer.apple.com/account/
- Go to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles” and click “Create” (or a blue plus icon).
- Under Services, select “Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate”.
- On the same page, scroll to the top and click “Continue”.
- Select your Merchant ID and click “Continue”.
- Upload Merchant Identity Certificate Signing Request (csr file)you downloaded in the Swiipe portal from step 1. and click “Continue”.
- Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate has been created at Apple Pay, meaning it has been signed by Apple.
- Now download this signed Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate by clicking “Download”.
- Now go back to the Swiipe portal and upload the file.
If you closed the Swiipe portal or lost the tab:
- Login to your Swiipe e-commerce account at https://portal.swiipe.com/login
- Go to the Plugins page
- Find Apple Pay and click “Activate”.
- Select a webshop and click “Continue”
- Provide your Apple Merchant ID and click “Continue”
- In 2nd step, upload the signed Merchant Identity certificate (merchant_id.cer) you downloaded from Apple, and click “Submit”.
